Here are my tips on how to start a podcast in two weeks (because that’s what I’ve been doing the last two weeks instead of blogging). You absolutely can do it, but it takes a crazy amount of crazy and hard work. But it’s much easier or faster than you’d think! Come listen if you haven’t started!

How to Start a Podcast in Two Weeks
1. Lose your mind.
(Because why else would you start a podcast in two weeks?)
2. Listen to podcasts on how to start a podcast.
(The best way to learn, OBVIOUSLY.)
3. Buy supplies.
(Namely, a microphone and media hosting.)
4. Start a new website.
(Don’t worry, this one isn’t leaving! But if you’re a writer or other creative person, you might really enjoy the new one.)
5. Ask a bunch of really amazing people to be your guests.
(Hope they say yes.)
6. Interview the people who said yes.
(And have a GREAT time doing it.)
7. Learn how to edit audio podcasts by watching YouTube videos.
(Is there anything you CAN’T learn from YouTube?)
8. Stop sleeping until you launch.
(This also means take a mini break from blogging.)
If you are an email subscriber, you already know about the new site and the imminent podcast launch. (You should definitely subscribe if you haven’t already!) But I realized when I looked at the site that I haven’t posted ANYTHING here in almost a week. Which is probably the second longest time I’ve EVER taken off blogging. And that includes vacations. So sorry!!
But big things are on the horizon and I need to figure out how to keep them all balanced. I will definitely still be blogging here about my fam and parenting and sharing great recipes, but the new site is all about writing. I will share inspiration to keep you going, but also practical tools to do things like build your platform. (Because the reality is that these days, you would be hard-pressed to get published without one.) I am not just interviewing one KIND of writer, but have songwriters and non-fiction writers and christian writers and YA writers and bloggers and social media influencers and other creative geniuses coming on the show.
I have a long story to share about how this came about, so look for that SOON. For now, go check out Create If Writing. And if you want to keep up with when the podcast launches and get freebies that I will offer to my subscribers only, sign up for that email! (Yes, I realize that will be two emails from me! The podcast-related email will be bare bones of letting you know when there is a new one up and sharing any freebies or exclusives that my guests have to offer!)
Thanks for bearing with my transition period! I think if only I still had two work days a week, this would be no biggie. I’m constantly amazed at what I fit into my days while still having four kids. IT’S CRAZY. But I think the key is just not going to bed til 1am. True story.
Do YOU have any productivity tips to share? Because I NEED them. (And if you want more detail about how to do this, let me know in the comments and I will write up a longer post once I’ve launched! I’ll be happy to tell you everything I did wrong.)
