This is me, in super early labor! That’s right, all our plans for baby on July 21 changed when I came into the hospital today and was in labor. Here are a few more details. Having a baby in the summer when you are a youth pastor’s wife is a hard thing. Rob is in and out of town so very much. We planned the c-section (read more about the process of deciding all that birth stuff here) for a time when he was in town, but all along I felt like something different might happen since labor has NEVER EVER gone the way we “planned.” Let’s revisit, shall we?
Sawyer: home birth turned hospital birth with every intervention possible, but still got a vaginal birth. (Read his birth story here!)
Lincoln: home birth turned hospital transfer for c-section. (Read his birth story here!)
Cooper: VBAC turned c-section for high fluids and other concerns. (Read her birth story here!)
#4: planned c-section turned earlier c-section because I went into labor.
I had prayed that this might happen, only because Rob is in town now. So either now or on the date works best, nothing in between. My contractions have slowed, but when I came in, baby had dropped, I was dilating and effacing— a change from Saturday when they checked me as I came in with the stomach bug. I wanted it to be clear and it was, even if I’m still mostly comfortable.
I’m watching a Jaws marathon, which is kind of perfect. Jaws is my BFF and I’m getting inspired by baby names. Example: Brody, Amity, Biggerboat, Duh Duh, Whitey, Sequel, Attack, or even Jaws. Good, right?
In any case, this baby will probably be arriving around dinner or just after. I’ll be posting here, of course, and Twitter and Facebook and Instagram, but again, if you want the earliest news, I’ll be sending out an email to my subscribers. (Except you, Mom. I’ll text you if you aren’t already here with me. )
Super excited!! Can’t wait to share the news with you. Now back to Jaws 3.
