I began blogging under the name I Still Hate Pickles seven years ago. I thought I would write a little about being pregnant and about the fact that we were planning a home birth. Like five people read it. Maybe four. (Or three. Including me.) Over time, our family grew and changed and so did the blog. I realized that this blog had the power to bring encouragement and make connections. (Want to connect more? Sign up for my Weekly Chaos email and snag your free Survival Guide.)
Why an eclectic celebration of chaos? You can see my fancy diagramming up there. It’s eclectic because I’m a random chick. You might show up and get a post on parenting. Or about roller derby. Or a recipe. Or something about DIY. Or what I ate for breakfast. YOU NEVER KNOW. That’s fun, right? It’s like a happy surprise.
Chaos is my life. I have four kids. They are loud. I am loud. Things are wild and messy and I feel about twenty steps behind most days. It is chaotic. And possibly crazy.
But my goal is to celebrate the chaos. Because the other option? Is to curl in the fetal position under my kitchen table with all the half-eaten sandwiches and cry about how nuts life is sometimes. Let’s not do that. (Mostly because—GROSS! Under the kitchen table is a bad place to be.)
Want to embrace the chaos with me? Great! Grab a cup of coffee (or a glass of wine) and read some random stuff from my life. I like to keep it real around here, so you’ll see my bad-morning-hair photos and I’ll tell you when I screw up in the kitchen or start a small fire. (Yes, that happens.) I will confess when I struggle with parenting and also how much I love it even when it’s hard.
I post pretty frequently on Twitter, Instagram, and my Facebook page. I’m also on Google + and Pinterest if you like to hang out there. I hope you stick around. I’d also love to hear from you, so shoot me an email if you want to chat: kirsten@kirstenoliphant.com
