Two more pounds lost! Which is a good thing since my goal is to hit 10 more pounds before the end of my time on Nutristystem (which is almost up!). One thing I noticed tonight when looking through my stocked freezer is that the boxed meals say “Perfectly Portioned for Weight Loss.” Are they perfection portioned? People have asked me if I’m still hungry on Nutrisystem. My answer? Sometimes.
But in those times, I have the freedom to eat Smart Carbs and Power Fuels. That means snacks like hard-boiled eggs, low-fat cheese, and veggies and fruits galore. If I’m hungry, it’s usually because I’m not snacking on healthy things.
The portions for Nutrisystem are a bit smaller than what I would normally eat for a meal. But what that reveals is more that our portions are usually out of control. We eat WAY more than we need to eat, even when it comes to healthy foods.
That’s one thing that I will be taking with me after I finish Nutrisystem: portions. It’s one thing to know what sizes you should be eating and another to experience how you feel after eating the correct portion. It takes some adjustment! Usually it means adjusting how many green veggies you eat with your meal. So often I think I put the bulk of my fullness in things that don’t have as much nutritional value.
Some greens I’ve been eating lately: spinach, broccoli, and cabbage. Super yummy, but boy those last two stink up my house. Is there a hack for that?
Do you struggle with portions? What is the best way you have found to keep yourself from going overboard with eating extra-large portions?
