Back when I first started my blog, new excitement in my life meant LOTS of blog posts. SO. MANY. Like, several a day. That was before Facebook was what it is now and way before the birth of Instagram. Sharing is so much easier on those platforms now, while I keep the blog for posts that are more shareable long-term, like recipes or how-tos. Less the daily life. AND SOMETIMES I MISS THAT!
We’ve had some big changes lately! Little and soon to be big. Namely: we got a great dane puppy. His name is Vader (as in Darth) and he’s pretty awesome.
Except for the whole pooping on the rug thing. I’m totally over that.
And yes, I know it’s a terrible idea to get a puppy when you have a baby. Believe me, I know. We knew. And we did it anyway. So here are a million amazing pictures that in no way represent most of our daily lives. Some from the fancy camera and some on the phone. The puppy has doubled in size over the course of these pictures, just so you know.
(Oh, and our niece adopted his littermate! That’s the OTHER dog you’ll see here.)
Someone commented lately that from all the photos on Facebook it looks like everything is going great. Sometimes it is! But mostly our house is just filled with commotion that we try to manage and squeeze some good daily moments out of. You don’t want to see (or imagine) all the poop on the floor of my house or the struggle to teach little kids how to treat a puppy that they are enamored with, or just how it is right now having three kids three and under, plus two more. Plus a puppy. And an older, mostly-deaf dog.
At times, I think we are nuts.
Actually, always, we are nuts.
Did I mention Vader thinks he’s a baby??
But when we discussed having another baby and getting a puppy and adding to the chaos that already is really hard, Rob and I talked about what we would remember at the end. I will never forget the difficulty of these days. But when we are looking back over our lives, I KNOW what stands out will be the joy. We’ll shake our heads at ourselves and say, “What were we thinking??”
And we will also say, “WE ARE SO GLAD WE DID. What a crazy, loud, chaotic adventure.”
Now excuse me while I go clean up after one of my children or dogs.
Want to see more of Vader growing? I’m posting more frequently over on Instagram if you want to follow along!
