Today I’m talking about dogs. Before we had kids, we HAD a child. And that child was our dog. We didn’t travel without him. Which meant sometimes staying in weird places or crashing only homes that were dog friendly and making pit stops that were dog friendly. That was simply our reality.
But Tex was NOT our first dog. He was our third. Listen to the episode to hear about our first two dogs, who we had for a total of three weeks TOTAL. (Note: Have tissues handy.)
Tex is still better-loved than most dogs I know, but the reality is also now that we tend to make plans and then think, “Oh, yeah—who’s going to watch Tex?” (Thanks Mom, Dad, and Geoff!!)
He is more than a dog to us, and he’s getting up there in years. This year I realized he wasn’t hearing as well as he always had. I figured this out when he seemed to be in the way more. I’m always running into him and after the fourth time of bumping into him, I figured it out: he doesn’t hear me coming like he used to. It was a truly sad moment.
Today I’ll have a sponsored post up where I’m talking about whether dog food might help an old dog recover his old tricks. If you want to read more about Tex, you can read these posts about him:
