I hate aging. I feel like the 30s have been both my child-having and my beginning-to-age years. Gray hairs, creaky knees, and more noticeable wrinkles. It’s the pits. The only thing I hate worse than seeing the signs of aging in me? Seeing them in our dog Tex.
Tex joined our family when we were newlyweds, just shy of our one-year anniversary. Like a child would, Tex went everywhere we went. He rode in our laps as we traveled back and forth cross country, wearing a line in the highways between Virginia/North Carolina and Texas. When I drove a few hours by myself to see my parents, Tex accompanied me into rest stop bathroom stalls. He was a companion and a bodyguard.
Tex and Rob once made the local paper in North Carolina running sprints at a school football field. During Rob’s application for American Gladiators & American Ninja Warrior, Texas was his training buddy. When I first started training for roller derby, Tex almost dragged me off the trail on my skates. He was (mostly) a great training partner.
Fast forward to eleven years (and four kids) later and Tex has started to slow down. I don’t like admitting that he is much slower running. That he responds more slowly when we call him and seems to be slightly hard of hearing. The fact is that dogs are considered senior by the time they reach age seven. Which makes Tex SENIOR senior.
We can’t stop the aging process, but we CAN take steps to keep the spring in Tex’s steps. Daily walks, runs, and play certainly help. So does a healthy diet. Purina ProPlan Bright Mind is specifically designed with dogs like Tex in mind. Its formula contains enhanced botanical oils, which have shown to improve mental sharpness in dogs seven years and older within thirty days.
So how did it work for Tex? I’ll let you know more (or will SHOW you more) in ten days, but check out this before video. Tex running with Cooper is about the cutest thing ever, but the fact that a two-year-old gets tired of waiting for him while running shows how this once super-speedy training partner has lost his stride. But daily exercise and ProPlan Bright Mind formulated for HIS needs may help this old dog recover his old tricks.
Stay tuned to see how 6 week’s worth of diet change may affect the spring in our old pup’s step!
