I’m not sure if this will be an every week post, but this week I was going through my photos and thinking about my life and all the beauty. Granted, my beauty is that of crumbs in the floor and laundry piled high. It is the beauty in and around crying jags and mini-tantrums and food tossed from a sticky high-chair tray. But maybe this is the best kind? Sandwiched in between messes and reality (or the mess that IS reality), this beauty stands in sharp focus. It is beauty in contrast, but also somehow beauty because of the other things. So here are a few photos from my messy, beautiful week. I’d love to see some of your week’s beauty.
I found artichokes on clearance this week and was super excited, as I have never prepared one whole before. I have a thing about certain vegetables—lovely, isn’t it? Much lovelier than what I cooked and then threw out. I think I need an asparagus 101 class or something. (Or else I need to stick to the ones in the can.)
I can’t get over my kids’ eyelashes. I mean…can you? All three have them, a gift from Rob. I wish they could say that I had them too, but I’m the odd eyelash out. I can appreciate them all day long, though. Freckles aren’t so bad either.
This morning I tried a recipe I first saw on Mouthwatering Mondays over at A Southern Fairytale. (The recipe came from A Hungry Pilgrim.) I made mine super simple, Stupid Simple in fact (recipe to come next week!) and love the way it looked in the morning light. Butter, lemon, powdered sugar on a lovely lump of dough? I almost ate the whole thing myself.
And I have to end with these, delicious and beautiful S’mores Brownies. If you want to add some of this chocolatey, gooey, amazing brownie beauty, you can find my recipe here.
Small or large, I’d love to see your week’s beauty. It’s not always found in the places you expect, is it?
