Every year, I tend to write a post about hating New Years. There are a lot of things to like, actually: fireworks, champagne, fresh starts, champagne. But also things like hyped-up expectations, disappointments, people putting drugs in your drink (true story, but it all ended well, thankfully), and failing at keeping resolutions. Are you a lover or a hater?
Though resolutions generally make me want to run in another direction, I do like goals and new starts. I have some plans, people. I want to keep moving in the direction of healthy, whole foods. I want to change the tone of voice that I sometimes use to talk to my kids. I want to get back to a regular gym schedule. I want to finish up my discipline book and have that ready for you ASAP.
I may fail at all these resolutions. But there is one that I plan to keep. Barring some kind of disaster, this one is here to stay.
I’d love to hear your reaction in the comments. (If you’re on my mailing list, you found out a little ahead of time! Good reason to join.) Are you as surprised as we were?
This is a crazy thing, this pregnancy. Here’s why:
1. Normally after having a baby, my body doesn’t return to baby-making status for 8 or so months. This happened when Cooper was about 4-5 months.
2. I took three tests when I was a month pregnant: all negative.
3. Cooper and this baby are going to be just over a year apart. I already have a baby. Insanity.
We are super excited, despite my fear of having another baby this summer when Rob is gone for weeks. This is the first pregnancy when even when Cooper was a week old, I knew I wanted another baby. With Sawyer, I told Rob we were adopting. With Lincoln, I did not think I could handle two kids until he was about six months old. After Cooper, I felt like more babies was a great idea, even right away. We shall see how I feel after this one. 🙂
Don’t worry—more posts to come about details. All of them. To tide you over, I’m 12 weeks this week and due July 24. This will be a for-sure C-section so it will be a new experience. And you know you can read all about it.
What are your resolutions? Any fun news right now? Advice on handling two kids under the age of two?
